We got our parts back from the machine shop. Everything was within Ford’s service specification, so the shop cleaned and polished the crankshaft and gave the heads a cleaning, resurfacing, and valve job. The factory turbocharged 7.3L IDI diesel engines got Inconel exhaust valves and seats, although our non-turbo 7.3L heads did not. We also got a Sunnen dial bore gage on loan from Rob Parelli at TorkTeknology.com to verify our honing technique worked properly. Rob has all kinds of parts and knowledge to share with his fellow diesel enthusiasts.
