Power Stroke Vs Small Block Engine Speed Graph
Notice that the Power Stroke didn't make peak horsepower and then drop off quickly (green line, top chart). It made 250 hp starting at 2,900 rpm, and held it until roughly 3,400 rpm. Not bad considering peak horsepower when the truck was stock (directly below it) came at 3,000 rpm, then fell off rapidly. Also, notice how much smoother the power band looks in both horsepower and torque when compared to stock. Overall, we gained 90 horsepower at the same rpm, and 171 lb-ft (201 lb-ft when power-braking) over stock.
