Before
The biggest change that ever happened to the pickup truck was fashion. Fifty years ago, nobody drove pickups if they didn't have to. Today, it seems like everybody drives one. They've become fashionable, even if their owners don't actually need to tow or haul anything.
While we don't have a problem with any of that, we figure that if everyone in the U.S. has a pickup, how do the real truck owners separate themselves from the pretenders? That's easy-fight fashion with fashion.

Corey McKinnon's black '03 F-350 is a perfect example. He's already lifted his Super Duty, fitted it with bigger tires, changed out the headlights, blacked out the trim, and even added Freightliner badges over the old Ford blue oval. Still, his truck didn't have the unique identity that he was looking for, so he gave Roland Trudell at RBP a call. Trudell suggested fitting McKinnon's F-350 with RBP's grille insert, and new stainless steel side vents to complement the work McKinnon had already done to the truck.
The RBP black mesh grille upgrade comes as a do-it-yourself kit that you use to modify your existing grille. The new RBP grille mesh is installed after the old plastic pieces are cut out and removed. It's a good idea to tape off all of the chrome areas to protect them while you work. | A word of advice from us: RBP also sells new factory grilles that have already been modified and fitted with the new black mesh insert. So unless you're a wiz with a Dremel tool, you'll be much happier if you leave the work to the professionals. | The center of the grille and outer "nostrils" are cut away from the chrome surround. All of the rough plastic edges should be ground smooth and sanded to produce a clean look. |
The chrome can then be polished, or even sanded down and painted, depending on the look you desire. | On this grille, the RBP mesh insert is held in place by these two vertical strips of steel. They are positioned behind the vertical plastic bars in the Ford grille to keep them out of sight. Four new holes must be drilled for these steel strips, but they will be hidden once the grille is reinstalled on the truck. | To complement the grille, RBP also offers chrome-plated stainless steel fender emblems that are similar to the Ford vents found on the '08 Super Duty. Removing the old emblems can be done with some high-strength fishing line (to slice through the glue behind the badge), or some nylon wedges like these. |
The new RBP grille insert fits in from the backside so that the fit can be tailored to the cuts you've made. | To apply the new emblems, you must remove all the residual glue and gunk left by the old emblem, wipe the fender down with some rubbing alcohol or acetone, and stick them on with the double-sided tape provided by RBP. | |
