Recently, we got an exclusive first look at the latest creation from Elite Diesel Engineering in Pueblo, Colorado. After a year of working on a compound-turbo set up for 6.0L Power Strokes, the company has finally perfected it.

The brand-new kit is a combination of the Elite Diesel Engineering high-pressure Torque-Tow turbo and its low-pressure Insanity turbo. An AFE Stage 2 intake feeds the air to this combination. Once the air passes through both turbos (full boost pressure pegs 60 psi), it is then channeled into a Banks intercooler and through a CFM+ Large Mouth intake elbow and into Elite Diesel's ported, polished, and fire-ringed heads. Once the air is in the cylinders, the factory pistons compress it and the Elite Stage 4 injectors (275cc) fed by Elite's Stage 2 fuel system sprays the required fuel into the cylinders, starting the combustion process. Once the combustion process has finished, the exhaust exits through the Extrude Honed exhaust manifolds and up into the high-temperature coated custom up-pipes feeding the turbos.

The Torque-Tow turbo utilizes an external wastegate, which diverts exhaust from the small turbo to the larger one. After the exhaust has done its job spinning the turbine wheels, it is directed down a custom 4-inch exhaust and out through the 6-inch stacks. With the addition of the new turbos, the oil-filter housing had to be relocated. The new oil-filter housing is mounted on the driver-side framerail, just down from the Baldwin water/fuel separator (part of Elite's Stage 2 fuel system). These compound turbos are so large that every inch counts, so the factory coolant overflow tank was also removed in favor of a custom tank with a Griffin radiator cap. Controlling this whole process is an SCT controller with Elite's custom tune. This combination is estimated to send 600 hp to the ground.

The new Elite Diesel Engineering 6.0L compound-turbo system was a very clean installation. If you didn't know the truth, you might actually think it was a Ford factory option.

The Insanity low-pressure turbo is close to where the factory turbo was located and the Torque-Tow high-pressure turbo is mounted just above the passenger-side valve cover.

This combination is capable of flowing an enormous amount of air, so an AFE Stage 2 filter was required to handle the intake demands.
