2008 Ford Super Duty Removing Factory Bumper

Where's the fun in driving a brand-new '08 Super Duty that looks like all the other stock trucks on the road? One easy way to drastically improve the looks of your 6.4L Ford is by dumping the weak factory bumpers and replacing them with heavy-duty parts from Fab Fours. In addition to making the truck look a lot better, the new bumpers will prevent damage from hazards on the trails (or in city traffic), improve ground clearance, allow you to mount a winch, and expand visibility with a strong set of foglamps and turn signals made by Hella. The staff at GM Truck Center in Burbank, California, showed us that with help from a couple of friends, you can give your truck a facelift in less than one day.

Next, use a hoist or jack to hold the bumper in place while adjusting the fitment at the corners and make sure the tailgate can open with no obstructions. We placed a piece of wood on the jack to keep it from scratching the new bumper.

Once the bumper was straight and we were happy with how it looked, we tightened all the bolts.

The license-plate lamps were ready to be reinstalled. The rear parking sensors can be zip-tied away in a safe place.

The front bumper can be detached after removing the hood-latch switch. Be careful not to snag any radiator lines while taking off the Ford bumper.

With the factory bumper out of the way, we removed the stock tow hooks. The D-ring recovery points on the Fab Fours bumper will replace the stock parts.
2008 Ford Super Duty Remove Headlamps
Before the front bumper was installed, we removed the headlamps to tap into the turn-signal wiring on each side of the truck. The kit came with piggyback wiring clips that made it easy to tap into the Super Duty to power the turn-signal lamps in the new bumper.
