2008 Ford Super Duty - Superlifted Super Duty

Next, ORU's Mike Duval mounted our giant 38x15.50R20 Dick Cepek Mud Country tires and 20-inch Dick Cepek DC-1 aluminum wheels. It was clear that some alterations would be needed to protect the Super Duty from its new shoes.

After the steering was aligned and the brakes were double-checked, we were ready to hit the trails with our new monster truck. The 8-inch suspension lift was surprisingly smooth on our ride to a local off-road park and worked great in the dirt. The steering and ride were smooth on moderately rough trails, and rocks that would have bottomed-out our stock Super Duty became mere speed bumps underneath the giant Dick Cepek tires and our new 8-inch Superlift kit.

To keep the fenders and suspension free of tire damage, Duval welded some bumpstops to keep the steering knuckles from turning far enough and allowing the tires to make contact with the truck. He then used a cutting wheel to remove some of the front inner fender liner so the tires wouldn't scrape. Depending on your tire and wheel combination, you may not need to perform this alteration on your Super Duty project.
