2008 Ford Super Duty - Lifted Diesel Truck

If you want your brand-new Super Duty to turn heads, you've got to lift it up in the air or slam it down until the frame scrapes the asphalt. Since Airaid's '08 Super Duty is no lowrider, we got our hands on the first 8-inch Superlift kit available for the 6.4L F-250 and picked up some 38x15.50 Dick Cepek Mud Country tires mounted on 20x12-inch Dick Cepek DC-1 wheels. The Superlift kit requires advanced installation training, so we had the 4x4 professionals at Off Road Unlimited in Burbank, California, install it the right way.

Before the front suspension was replaced, ORU installer Alfredo Valadez removed the existing steering components including a pitman arm that was way too loose. He made sure to use a locking compound when the new arm was installed to prevent this from happening again. The Superlift kit has a steering-stabilizer setup that uses two Bilstein SS shock absorbers to combat bumpsteer and tire shimmies.

The factory springs and shocks were replaced with longer coils made of 5160 steel and remote-reservoir Bilstein SS shocks that can dissipate heat faster than the stock parts. The kit also included longer bumpstop mounts to prevent damage under the truck.

The Superlift kit uses 5160 steel leaf springs and lift blocks to improve the F-250's ride height. If you're attempting this installation at home, you'll probably need help lifting the leaf springs into place.

Unfortunately, our upgraded MagnaFlow exhaust system was making contact with the passenger-side leaf spring, so the hanger had to be cut and welded so it wouldn't hit the spring pack or get too close to the spare tire.
