When Gilliland was happy with the pattern on both sides of the gear teeth, he confirmed the backlash was within spec (0.003 to 0.010 inch, while 0.005 to 0.007 is preferred). Ours came in at an ideal 0.006 inch. The carrier cap bolts (Arrow A) were torqued to 153 ft-lb. The small bolt that holds the differential bearing adjuster nut’s lock tab (Arrow B) was torqued to 20 ft-lb.
