The engine stand used in this driveway buildup was not designed to hold a Duramax. That is why the wood block was used to hold up the front end. The bellhousing was also very tricky to attach to and required mixing different length extensions and adding these spacers. If you've worked on a Duramax before, you might recognize these as the fuel injector hold-downs. They were extra parts from the trashed engine. SoCal Diesel offers billet injector clamp kits for the LB7, which include studs and 12-point nuts instead of bolts.
