The stock intake-heater element was bolted between the two new MPI intercooler pipes.

The other end of the MPI intercooler pipe was hooked up to the stock intercooler by using the original rubber boot.

Before installing the pipe that connects the exhaust outlet from the stock turbo to the second turbo's turbine, we wrapped the pipe in a special insulation tape that will contain the heat.

The turbo-connect pipe was installed on the exhaust side of the stock turbo. The turbo is very close to the firewall, so it was a little tricky to get this pipe in position.

With the support bolted firmly in place (arrow) and the intake tube bolted on, everything was ready for the second turbo to be mounted in the engine bay.

To correctly support the second turbo, the MPI kit came with a brace that bolted to the block from underneath. This photo shows Jeremy Bird feeding the support into position from inside the fenderwell.

The clamp was left loose so the compressor housing could be lined up correctly with the intake tube.

The new turbo is almost double the size of the factory turbo and flows nearly 100 pounds of air per minute.

Once the turbo was positioned correctly and bolted to the turbo-connect pipe and support flange, the intake tube and filter were mounted. The new tube mounted an AFE filter vertically behind the headlight.

The fender needed to be cut slightly to make room for the new exhaust downpipe coming from the turbo. The new turbo downpipe blended back into the factory exhaust near the transmission. Powerlabs painted the downpipe black so it would blend in with the fender.

The external wastegate for the second turbo was mounted to the new downpipe.

The new turbo now sits exactly where the coolant bottle used to, so MPI provided a bracket that moved the coolant bottle into the corner of the engine bay. The battery was also moved to the framerail.
