2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesels Roll Out of Warren Truck Assembly Plant

Diesel Half Ton Deliveries Begin

We have just received word from the Ram Truck guys in frigid Warren, Michigan, that the first batches of 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesels have rolled out of the Warren Truck Assembly Plant and have been loaded onto carriers to be delivered to dealerships. The proof is in the pictures and the video.

We can be certain that Ram is punchin’ out these 420 lb-ft of torque 3.0L V-6 VM Motori-powered trucks as fast as they can, as the initial demand has been staggering. What’s the big deal? Well, it’d be like carrying your family of four who don’t know the concept of travelling lightly and a bed full of stuff - with the fuel economy of your mid-90s compact mini truck (which you regrettably sold when the kids came along). Hitch up your toy hauler, and the EcoDiesel probably still gets better mileage than your current truck does unloaded and on its best day.

If you placed one of the 8,000 EcoDiesel orders that poured in over a three day period – hang tight, your truck could arrive in showrooms across the United States within eight days. It won’t be long before we’ll start seeing this subtle-looking but first-of-its-kind ½-ton fullsize diesel truck “in the wild,” so be on the lookout for the EcoDiesel badge on the front fender.

If you happen to see a carrier loaded with EcoDiesels on the road, be sure to snap a picture and send it our way!

I will add this the torque converter went out on mine at 17000 miles, with no mods on the truck, then with some minor mods the tranny was done, just got it build to be able to handle around 800 HP.

It would be nice if diesel would be less expensive seeing it's cheaper to make. But my uncles a diesel tech and he said he has worked on less Cummings in the past 5 years with 18 years experience do to issues than the fingers on his hands, and it was do to poor maintenance like not enough oil changes or belts. Had more dura max come in for issues.

I am certainly interested in seeing where this leads for once somebody other than ford was actually first and doing something but I believe I may be wrong because I do believe ford has been using deisel in little trucks overseas for a long time americans just aren't ready for that yet I guess

They writing is on the wall, when Fiat decided to turn down Cummins for the 5.0 V-8 in the 1500 Ram, Fiat also wants to use another V.M. Motari motor for the Ram H.D., soon Nissan and Toyota will compete for the Cummings 6.7 for their up and coming Heavyduty models, (Titan/Tundra), no doubt they'll probably make a better transmission than Ram.
