You Don’t Have To Make Big Horsepower To Make It In The Magazine

You Are All Heroes

Text By

In this issue, you’ll read about a dyno day put on by some of Purdue University’s finest students, the majority of which are agriculture and mechanical engineering majors. A total of 43 trucks took their turn on the rollers, and as a result the Purdue Diesel Club raised enough funds to hold other events throughout the year. My favorite part about attending dyno events is learning which combinations of parts got each truck to its current power level (and I know I’m not alone). It’s always interesting to chat with each Dodge, Chevy, and Ford owner before they hit the rollers as well. Some are optimistic, some expect the worst, and some just want a number!

With that said, I always regret the lack of real estate available in the magazine to show dyno results. So, in addition to seven big-horsepower combos I’ll spell out later on (in the event coverage), I’m listing the complete results right here. Even though a lot of the lower-horsepower trucks were only running programmers, they deserve recognition for two reasons: (1) their dyno fee contributed to a good cause, and (2) they got up in front of their peers to show us what their pride and joy is capable of. Besides, several trucks near the bottom of the list were some of the best looking, in my opinion (take the sharp F-350 pictured, for example).
