The biggest diesel engine available in the European-spec Fiesta is this all-aluminum Duratorq tdci 1.6L developed jointly by Ford and PSA Peugeot Citroen. The engines are produced at Ford's Dagenham Engine plant in Dagenham, United Kingdom.
Choice is the "buzz" word here, with a new "personalization menu" that is designed to suit drivers with different preferences. This new menu allows these items to be easily set and changed. The system has been included in a new vehicle computer whose dot matrix display is integrated into the new instrument cluster. What is unique about this global approach is the fact that a button on the indicator stalk operates the system.
The established conventional systems, such as average speed, trip distance, driving range, average and instant fuel economy, and outside temperature are a first in the small global car niche. What is truly unique, however, is the sub-menu. Audio choices are the key here, having the display repeated in the instrument panel along with 11 language choices, including Turkish and Russian.

All Duratorq tdci 1.6L engines (shown) are intercooled while the 1.4L engine can be had either way.
The voice control technology (called "Sync") passed on from the Ford Focus allows the driver hands-free operation of the climate control and audio systems. A new fully Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) system is also onboard. The system allows the desired interior temperature to be preset and maintained via sensors that monitor inside temperature and sun load. Bluetooth technology complements the system by integrating mobile phone usage.
