Since its inception, power-hungry enthusiasts have been running into airflow issues with Ford’s new 6.7L Scorpion-powered truck. While the factory three-wheel (two compressors, one turbine) Garrett turbocharger does fine at stock power levels, once the fuel is turned up, the turbo can’t keep up.
Enter Shane Williams, the turbocharger guru at Industrial Injection. He’s come up with a brand-new compound-turbocharger kit for the ’11-and-later 6.7L-powered Fords, which supplements the factory turbocharger with an S400-based turbo featuring a 75mm-diameter inducer. This removes the engine’s airflow hurdle and allows the 6.7L Power Stroke to make power without worrying about toasty EGT or overspeeding the stock turbo.
While superior airflow is important, Shane needed the rest of the truck to be cool as well, since it tows on a regular basis for Industrial Injection. The turbo kit was complemented by a FASS 150-gph fuel system, H&S Black Maxx programmer, and a Flo-Pro DPF-delete exhaust system.
To get the truck out of the weeds, the Ford received a BDS 6-inch suspension lift. Four 37x13.50R22 Toyo Open Country tires were then mounted on 22x10½-inch BMF Novakane wheels to round out the package. The truck then received some small but important interior and exterior modifications to stand out in a crowd. The best part is, if you want to see Industrial Injection’s new compound Ford, look for an event during which it’ll have a vendor’s booth. More than likely, you’ll see this bad-in-black Ford carrying a load of turbos, injection pumps, and other products to a show near you.
