Air enters a custom twin turbo setup designed by Keating Shelley, and features a hybrid S300 high pressure turbo and a S475 as the low pressure turbo. After air is compressed, it is sent through the Hellmann Performance intercooler. From there, it is routed up to the Hellmann intake elbow and into the stock head, which is held on by a set of ARP head studs. Then the air is allowed into the cylinder via the MaxSpool II camshaft controlling the valves. Once in the cylinder, the air is further compressed by the stock piston. When the time is right, the MP8 module, along with the Smarty Programming, open the Dynamite Diesel 90 hp injectors to add fuel. This combination equates to about 750 horsepower and 1,500 plus lb-ft of torque. Exhaust is routed out the ATS 3-piece manifold, and down the 5-inch Grand Rock exhaust system.
The power is then transferred through the ATS Five Star torque converter and into the Dodge 48RE transmission with upgraded clutches and a Sun Coast Converter valvebody. From there, power is sent via the driveshaft to the Ford 101/2-inch rear axle with a Detroit Tru Trac locker, making sure power is sent evenly to both rear tires. Stopping the axle from wrapping under that amount of power is no easy task, and Richard custom made a set of 78-inch traction bars.
The dash has also been reworked with an Excursion bezel painted black, along with billet knobs by UPR products. The instrument panel has an overlay by Nu Image. Keeping Richard entertained during those long road trips is a Kenwood DDX-7015 head unit controlling 4 Rockford Fosgate amps totaling 1,900 watts. The amps push the four 61/2-inch Focal Polyglass Components in the doors, one JL Audio 10W6v2 sub in a center console stealth box, and two Pioneer Premier 12-inch subwoofers behind the rear seats. Keeping the rear passengers entertained is a 15.4-inch drop-down monitor.
Richard has created unique truck that turns heads everywhere he goes. He even jokes that most of his mods have been modified. But he is also quick to point out that without the help of Hellmann Performance, GoGoDiesel, TS Performance, Grand Rock Exhaust, Dynamite Diesel, DC Customs, Southern Polyurethanes, DiPricol, GRC Custom Paint, and Greg Hogue, this project would have been almost impossible.
