Rolling on six 24.5-inch Twisted-x wheels custom-cut by Diesel Wheels, the big Ford is always ready for the custom truck circuit while keeping its heavy-hauling capabilities. Shaved door handles and a custom tailgate add to the look.
Providing plenty of power to turn those oversize rims is the 7.3L Power Stroke turbodiesel and 4R100 transmission. A Diablo Sport transmission shift kit tightens up the shift points and a Diablo Sport Tuner remapped the fuel tables. The combination of a k&n cold air intake and a Red's custom exhaust with a 6-inch tip guarantees free breathing.
When the suspension mods and power plant upgrades were complete, body modifications were next. Red's replaced the original '02 front clip with an '05 F-550 setup. Bobby at Mad Mods in Orlando, Florida, handled the interior, color-matching the dash and door panels, and adding the Lambo doors up front and suicide doors in the rear. The tailgate handle and door handles were shaved to keep the bodylines smooth. Bobby color-coordinated all the accessories on the truck to match, then turned his attention to the strongly patriotic tailgate.
Willy says the completed vehicle drives like a dream, and even with 70,000 miles on it, the truck is a regular winner at custom vehicle shows. To us, it sounds like the best of both worlds.
