Yes, That's the New '08 Super Duty
You can't even buy this truck yet and Fabtech already has a 10-inch lift ready for the all-new '08 Ford Super Duty. Folks at the SEMA show in Las Vegas got the first look at this project "Summit Force" beast that's packing the brand-new 6.4L Power Stroke engine with dual turbos. The common rail-fed and piezo-injected engine was barely ready in time for the aftermarket show, so the pre-production diesel powerplant you see here was only modified with a diesel particulate filter-back Jardine exhaust system. We're sure there will be plenty of modifications available for the Power Stroke in the future, but for now the rest of the Super Duty is getting the upgrades.
Suspension Lift
Fabtech started as a small fabrication shop building suspensions for race trucks and prerunners back in 1989. Now, it operates out of a 200,000-square-foot facility in Chino, California, where it makes complete suspension systems from scratch using in-house designers and fabricators. That's why Ford was able to trust them with building a lift kit for the '08 Super Duty just weeks before this truck would debut at the SEMA show.
The 10-inch suspension lift Fabtech installed uses a custom four-link suspension conversion on the front axle using Dirt Logic 4.0 coilover shocks that are larger than those found on some trophy trucks. Dual Dirt Logic steering stabilizers and a custom sway bar keep the F-250 going in a straight line even with the weight of the 6.4L Power Stroke diesel above the Dana 60 axle. The rear axle is located using Fabtech ladder bars, and bumps in the road are soaked up using Fabtech's long-travel reservoir shocks.
Wheels and Tires
Thankfully, the builders of this show truck resisted the urge to roll the "Summit Force" on 20-inch (or bigger) wheels. Instead, they went with off-road-friendly American Racing 18x9.5-inch Trax 8 wheels with simulated lock reinforcement bead rings by OMF. The rims are wrapped in giant 38x13.5-inch Toyo Open Country Mud Terrain tires.
Exterior Modifications
While it could be tempting to just spray on some nice paint and call this a show truck, the Fabtech SEMA team decided to go the extra mile when it came to the exterior of the new Super Duty. All of the paint was stripped from the stock '08 F-250 in preparation for the serious work of grinding a rip pattern into every square inch of the exterior.
That's right, the swirls you see are not airbrushed-that's actual metal work. Two Fabtech employees spent hours grinding every panel on the truck, even the Fabtech bed cover and the Precision billet grille. When the bare metal artistry was complete, the Super Duty received coats of House of Kolor Blue Candy and clear urethane paint sprayed by Haynie Designs. Since the '08 Super Duty is all-new, the interior was left stock, but other exterior upgrades include the billet door handles by Trader's, differential and pinch weld covers by Off Road Unlimited, and powered extending side steps by Amp Research.
