1987 Dodge Ramcharger Cummins Turbo Diesel - Red Rocket

Harvey wanted his truck to look like a traditional hot rod, so he has a set of Weld Pro Star wheels up front along with 3 1/2-inch-wide Hoosier tires. The front suspension is stock, and the lowering job is courtesy of the Cummins engine, which weighs about 500 pounds more than the original gas version.

Out back, the Ramcharger was mini-tubbed to the framerails. Even with retaining the stock frame, a whopping 8 inches could be added, giving Harvey enough room to fit a set of 31x16.50 Hoosier tires in the rear.

A lot of hard work went into this hood, which is actually steel, not fiberglass as you might think.

With a soft 1.77-second 60ft time, the Dodge makes up for it on the top end. With light weight and a lot of horsepower, we soon expect to see Harvey in the 10s.

Inside, a B&M Pro Stick controls the Sun Coast valvebody, while Harvey has to control the lockup and overdrive switches manually as he goes down the track.

Out back Harvey built his own ladder bar suspension using parts from Chris Alston's Chassisworks and a Ford 9-inch rearend. The rear has a nodular centersection, 35 spline axles, and a Strange spool to keep up with the diesel's torque. The fuel system is a FASS 200 pump combined with a -8 AN line, which ensures the hungry Cummins won't go lean.
