Bob Sager has a car show background, so he meticulously cleans his off-road machines after every desert trek. The Ram is kept display-ready, even though his driving style would indicate otherwise.
Dodge's Mega Cab is a monstrous hit with pickup owners who haul fullsized friends. Its trade-off-you get comfortable accommodations for six passengers, but you don't get a big bed because the Mega Cab only rolls off the assembly line with a short box.
Thanks to the aftermarket, a Ram Mega Cab longbed does in fact exist. Unlike some truck conversions though, the one shown here actually looks right. This extended Mega Ram is Surf City U.S.A. (Huntington Beach, California) resident Bob Sager's daily driver.
FROM BUG TO RAMBob has definitely moved up in the world since cruising the OC in VWs as a teenager. He actually drag-raced and showed Bugs in the '70s and '80s when VW Trends was the pinnacle of automotive publishing. Bob claims that he'd often win races and show trophies with the same vehicle, sometimes obliterating the 20-second quarter-mile barrier in the process.

Rams have a slight nose-down rake from the factory, so a Superlift 6-inch lift kit was added to level the truck.
To make a long story even longer, Bob's job in high school was at a shop called The Mini-Truck Store. He catered to Ford Couriers and showed Chevy LUVs some love. Then import car performance parts manufacturer GReddy called, hiring Bob for his VW expertise. And it continued to call, sometimes at 3:00 a.m. California time, which apparently is prime working time in Japan.
This long-winded rsum does eventually culminate in Bob's extendo-Ram. But first, he did a post-GReddy, sleep-in-till-sunrise stint at the legendary off-road company Dick Cepek. Enthusiasts over the age of 35 know how that story ended. Next, Bob landed at Off-Road General Store, one of the early businesses to focus on Jeep Cherokee performance. From there, Bob followed a splinter group of ex-Cepekers to Fabtech before landing his current job as a sales rep for Superlift.
The gist of all this is that once Bob worked the VW Bugs out of his system, he moved to the 4x4 industry and has stayed for most of his professional career. As a regional rep, Bob puts insane amounts of miles on trucks. He also sees aftermarket truck people daily, so Bob has a good idea of how he wants to accessorize his rigs (he flips a late-model, 100,000-mile 4x4 for a new truck every three years or so).
