The rear bumper was removed and replaced with a roll pan to clean up the exterior and save a few pounds.
Although this Cummins-powered Dodge Ram now looks a little different, it's actually the truck that was owned by Bully Dog and was victorious on the Pinks episode we covered in Aug. '06 ("Burnin' Rubber"). Since then, it has changed hands, emigrated to Canada, and received a new paint job, an engine, turbos, a second CP3 injection pump, and a transmission.
Celebrity PastOriginally, this truck was built solely for the Pinks TV show and was designed to be lightweight with lots of power. It was the first diesel to ever run on Pinks and was matched against a V-8-powered Chevy S-10. The episode showcased an epic diesel-versus-gas showdown, and in the end, the diesel won by a slight margin. The race was made even closer by the fact that on the second to last run, the truck blew a radiator hose and ran the final race with a T-shirt wrapped around the hose to minimize fluid loss.

You're looking at a 1,000hp common-rail Cummins engine with dual CP3 injection pumps, an Arc Flow ATS intake, a dry nitrous kit, and a heavily fortified long-block.
After Pinks, Bully Dog needed to make room for future projects. According to Bully Dog's marketing manager, Mike DeFord, "We raced it a few more times, but it was never going to be a serious effort. When Aaron Schaff and the crew at CT Performance in Alberta, Canada, approached us about buying and racing the truck, it made perfect sense."
All-New EngineThe engine that used to power this truck was basically all stock internally, and although it worked well, CT knew that with the competition getting tougher, the truck was going to need more power. PDI in St. George, Utah, has been successful building modified, 5.9L, common-rail Cummins engines, so CT sent the truck down to St. George for a new engine. PDI built one using a balanced and blueprinted block and rotating assembly as a starting point. Custom pistons and connecting rods were installed underneath a ported and polished head. To keep all fluids and gases where they should be under the extreme cylinder pressure, the head was O-ringed and 14mm head studs were used.
Fueling for the common-rail 5.9L is handled by a FASS lift pump, an ATS/PDI dual CP3 injection-pump kit using Industrial Injection-modified CP3 pumps and injectors. Electronic tuning is handled by a Bully Dog Triple Dog downloader with custom tuning maps done exclusively for CT Performance.
