Suspension LiftSince her husband's truck had a 4-inch suspension lift, Desia decided to get a 6-inch Superlift kit installed under her truck. It was bigger, but to make it even better, she had the springs chromed along with some other suspension parts. The kit includes dual remote reservoir shocks in the front and chrome lift blocks under the leaf springs in the back. Desia has plans to go off-roading in her Mega Cab, but wants more than 5,000 miles on the odometer before she starts beating on the truck.
Wheels and TiresWhen she's ready to hit the Idaho mud, a set of 37x13.50-inch Toyo Open Country M/T tires will help keep the Ram from getting stuck. Just like she did with the lift kit, Desia decided to go bigger than her husband. He runs 35-inch tires on 20-inch rims, so she bought 37-inch tires and slapped them on 22-inch Bazo B8 chrome wheels. The tires were chosen because they are relatively quiet on the highway, and the wheels...well, they are definitely bigger than the 20s on her husband's Ram, plus they match the custom paint.
Custom PaintThe white base paint is the stock color, but the rest is one-of-a-kind work by the friends and family at Anderson Body and Glass in American Falls, Idaho. The paint crew sprayed the top half of the Mega Cab and the custom ram air hood with Dodge silver paint. Then Desia's uncle, Delane Anderson, hand airbrushed the precise red and black pinstripes that start at the grille and wrap all the way around the tailgate, emblazoned with her motto.
Diesel Power AddersTo help broadcast the message on the tailgate to the masses left behind when the streetlights turn green, some power adders were attached to the stock Cummins. Since Desia works as a marketing/PR manager with Bully Dog, she went to the company parts bin for some instant power upgrades. A Rapid Flow Intake with a prefilter is fed by the ram air hood with a fully functional hood scoop. A Triple Dog downloader with the Outlook monitor helps squeeze about 140 additional horsepower from the Cummins. The exhaust also received the Bully Dog treatment with the addition of a sweet-sounding 4-inch kit that leads to dual 5-inch chrome tips.
Interior, Audio, and VideoSounds inside the cab are handled by an Alpine audio and video system installed by Ideal Audio in Pocatello, Idaho. All the stock speakers were replaced with Alpine parts, and a box with two Alpine 10-inch subwoofers and amplifiers easily fits behind the Mega Cab back seat. Alpine video screens were installed in the headliner and the dash for watching DVDs or to monitor the navigation system. A Bluetooth hands-free cell phone system was also installed to make traveling safer. To make the ride more comfortable, all of the seats were covered with two-tone Katzkin leather. To add more custom touches, her uncle Delane painted the door-panel inserts and center console with a unique marble texture.
For the LadiesDesia designed her dream truck to promote ladies who love diesel power, and it seems to be working. She says folks are constantly snapping their necks to see the truck and often want to take pictures with her Mega Cab. Women and young ladies tell her they'd like to build a giant truck too. Some men will laugh or shake their heads when they see the Ram, but Desia has taken everything as a compliment, especially when a guy said, "It's hard to believe that a 5-foot-4-inch girl would jump out from inside that truck."
