2001 Chevy Silverado - The Duramini
Remember back in high school... Remember back in high school when you were quizzed on this equation: PV=nRT? If you skipped class that day it's called the ideal gas law. We guarantee that if the teacher would have used a nitrous bottle and a Duramax as an example, we all would have gotten A's. Basically, the ideal gas law states that when a gas is cooled inside a sealed container, its volume is reduced and the pressure inside the bottle goes down. We use regulators in order to maintain the nitrous pressure, regardless of the outside temperature. | If you overlook the racing... If you overlook the racing seat, the interior looks comfortable and just like it came from the factory. The laptop operates the EFILive software, which Dmitri uses to tune the truck. | Yep, it's a real rollcage... Yep, it's a real rollcage welded to the frame. | From left to right are Matt... From left to right are Matt Larson, Dmitri Millard, and Drew Benham at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California. It's amazing the distances diesel enthusiasts will travel at the drop of a hat. With drag radials, tools, and an engine in the back, these guys drove hundreds of miles, unloaded the heaviest items, and then kicked butt at the track. | The crowd cheered wildly after... The crowd cheered wildly after this run. It is hard for one's brain to comprehend that the Duramini is able to make 10.8-second quarter-mile passes at 128 mph. | | For safety, the Duramini has... For safety, the Duramini has a driveshaft hoop (right). Out back, the rearend spins the stock 3.73 gears. | From this angle, the interior... From this angle, the interior looks like an all-out race truck. Adding the rollcage required Dmitri to remove the entire interior so that the welder would not burn it. The section of the rollcage that goes past the door is removable—a must for any race truck that still acts as a daily driver. | |
