The XSR48 Is The World's Fastest Diesel Superboat, But It's Also A Lot More. The Developers Say The Boat "Combines The Dna And High performance of a supercar with superyacht styling, making it the Bugatti Veyron of the sea." That bold statement is backed up with 2,000 hp from dual 11.3L Isotta Fraschini L1306 twin-turbo diesel engines mounted inside of a futuristic luxury vessel.
To assure that the XSR48 would be much more than just a speedboat, XSMG founders Ian Sanderson and Peter Dredge (who have together broken 11 world records) built their boat in collaboration with world-class construction and design partners. The hull and hydrodynamics were created by legendary designer and speed patrol boat builder Fabio Buzzi. Its high-tech composite materials were supplied by High Modulus, and the award-winning luxury superyacht designers Redman Whiteley Dixon were another one of the many companies involved in bringing this superboat project to life.

The XSR48 is built in Lymington, England, and was initially launched in December '06. It's been shown at boat shows from Monaco to Dubai, and the company hopes to set numerous world endurance records during races in the Isle of Wright later this year. The first production model has been performing sea trials before its scheduled delivery to a lucky owner this spring. The XSR48 production run will be limited to about 100 of the XSR48 superboats, and the price, well, since you have to ask, we'll just say that it has seven digits-and that's in British Pounds!
