Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Lead Shot Front Axle
The Dynatrac Dana 60 front axle is stronger than the factory independent front suspension and allows the use of more robust steering components as well. Jack Stanko has built lifted IFS Chevys in the past and found they were not strong enough to endure the punishment he subjected them to.

Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Front Shackle
The front shackle is mounted inboard of the frame. The narrower spring perch width keeps the tires from rubbing the springs at full steering lock.

Dual Bilstein 7100 remote reservoir shocks are mounted on Off Road Unlimited shock hoops and greatly contribute to the ride quality of the leaf-spring suspension.
Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Wheels And Tires
The rolling stock consists of 37-inch Toyo Open Country M/Ts wrapped around 20x10 Weld Velociti rims. The tires are E-load range rated, and the wheels are forged so towing capacity is not sacrificed with this combination.
Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Front Bumper
The TrailReady bumper was color matched to the truck and filled with a Warn 16.5ti winch and PIAA lights. The bumper matches the factory lines quite nicely but is stronger than the stock bumper. The front spring hanger mounts in the same location as the new bumper, so Jack had to modify the mounts to fit both components without sacrificing strength.
Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Engine
Hiding under all that plastic is an LBZ Duramax engine. Also visible is the ARB air compressor that activates the front air locker.
Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Interior
The interior is largely stock, which, in this case, is a good thing. The leather seating and steering wheel controls are more akin to a luxury car than a work truck, but the Husky floor liners remind you that this is still a pickup.
Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Flexed
From the rear, the Duramax is all business. The exhaust exiting the huge polished tip is exceptionally quiet and free of soot. Black smoke may impress other diesel owners, but it doesn't win over the general public.
Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Rear Axle
Atlas leaf springs are coupled with Bilstein 7100 series shocks in the rear. No lift blocks were used in order to limit axlewrap from the torquey diesel mill. The AAM 1150 rear axle was also upgraded with ORU's aluminum differential cover to keep the gear lube cool while towing.
Solid 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax Towing Jeep
Unlike some trucks that are lifted to the sky and become impractical, Jack's Duramax is well-proportioned and provides a good balance between daily driving, towing, and trail prowess.

This shot is a testament to the rigidity of GM frames. Even with the axles crossed up, the suspension is doing all of the work and the bed and cab are still aligned.
