Europeans like solving problems with one universal tool. The British have their cup of tea, the Swiss have their army knife, and the Germans have their Unimog.
Born in 1948 out of a post-World War II Germany, even the Unimog's name has utility. The original tag: Universalmotorgerat, meaning "universally applicable motorized implement" would have been too much of a mouthful for a machine that was intended to save farmers time. Unimog was much more direct and, like the vehicle itself, would do the Job.
