Redneck Nationals - Deep South Action!
Jimmy Smith's truck, now driven... Jimmy Smith's truck, now driven by Seth Sullivan, was expected to be a sure-bet, low 6-second performer, but once again suffered from transmission issues. It's always exciting to watch Jimmy's truck launch at the starting line, and we look forward to seeing it at TS Performance's Outlaw drag race and sled pull event in May. | Not that there was a burnout... Not that there was a burnout contest in the wet box or anything, but had there been, this lifted Dodge 2500 would've taken home the prize for the E.T. Bracket class. | Richard Buckles swept in from... Richard Buckles swept in from Warrior, Alabama, and took home the win in the Pro Street class. Although Richard fought traction issues like everyone else, his 4,700-pound 1/2-ton Dodge still managed a best pass of 6.37 seconds at 113 mph. We'd say with the right traction this truck's good for cracking the 5s in the eighth-mile. We look forward to seeing it at other events this season. | After a 6.23-second pass at... After a 6.23-second pass at 111 mph, Buck Spruill's Duramax looked like the truck to beat, but fate dealt him a blown transmission at the end of his semi-final win over his brother Jess, and he was forced to take home Second Place in Pro Street. | Brian Carter's 1-ton, 7,500-pound... Brian Carter's 1-ton, 7,500-pound Dodge continues to impress us every time we see it, and boy can he drive! During one qualifying pass, he broke traction mid-track--effectively showing officials back on the starting line both sides of his truck--and somehow managed to stay out of the wall. Then, in one of the day's closest races, he nearly knocked out Stuckey Racing with a 6.96-second pass at a blazing 107 mph! | Scheid Diesel's dragster showed... Scheid Diesel's dragster showed up and once again, driver Bo Layne gave everyone a taste of the fastest of the fast in diesel drag racing. However, after the dragster experienced some tire shake, the result was a broken sprag in the transmission, which ended any hopes of seeing how quick Bo Layne could pilot the dragster through the eighth-mile. |
