Truck pulls presented by the...
Truck pulls presented by the National Association of Diesel Motorsports (NADM) are a staple of Yankee Lake, and a few pretty serious pullers show up, such as this tire spinnin' Dodge Ram.
A little while back, we heard about an event that had flame-shooting semis, truck and tractor pulls, truck tug-of-wars, and massive mud boggers-many of them diesels. We just had to check it out, so we made the trip to Yankee Lake, Ohio, where all this insanity occurs. Yankee Lake has a huge off-road park that is home to Truck Night, where all this mayhem is unleashed. They weren't kidding about the "night" part, and we took as many pictures as daylight would allow, but we can tell you that it really doesn't get rolling till about 9 or 10pm.
If for some reason any of this doesn't excite you, don't worry, there's more. BBQ ribs, hamburgers, chicken, and cotton candy are all available to munch on in case you get hungry, and a climbing wall, foam pit, and monster school bus are also all available in case you need a break from slinging mud and broken parts.
The Hushpower monster truck...
The Hushpower monster truck was there, and made short work of the mud pit. Unfortunately, the monster truck caused a tidal wave that washed up and over the sled pulling track.
With hundreds of trucks in attendance, and thousands of spectators, Yankee Lake is almost guaranteed to be a fun time. So next time you're in northeast Ohio (or even if you aren't) go check out the craziness at Yankee Lake, we promise you won't be disappointed.
One of the hottest attractions... One of the hottest attractions of the night was this flame-shooting semi. Big rigs are a regular attraction at Truck Night, with some even hooking up to the sled. | Didn't bring a truck? No problem.... Didn't bring a truck? No problem. Yankee Lake offers rides in their own monster bus, which makes short work of the hills and mud pits. | Mud is a big draw at Yankee... Mud is a big draw at Yankee Lake, and we couldn't believe this super-clean army truck was going to be blasting through the mud pits as soon as it got off the trailer. |
