Cody Black had to lay down...
Cody Black had to lay down at least 700 hp on Saturday to earn him a spot in the finals on Sunday.
Cracked Cummins Block
As the engine came up to speed, Black hit the wrong stage of nitrous and caused a huge cylinder pressure spike. The 5.9L Cummins block cracked and shot flames out the bottom of the truck before the dyno could record any power. Not knowing what had happened, Black kept his foot on the throttle and hit the rest of the stages of nitrous and pulled out an incredible run.
As the crowd rushed into the building to see the carnage, a voice yelled out, "893, Cody won!" As the smoke cleared and the truck was unhooked, Black, along with his posse, pushed the tired old Dodge out of the shop. Coolant was pouring out of the engine.
We've heard lots of people...
We've heard lots of people say they can burn rubber, but how often do you actually get to see it? Thanks to Chris Pharr from ART we got to see it and smell it.
As the guys at ART cleaned up the mess, Black fired the truck back up, and he drove it down to the cul-de-sac and celebrated his victory with some well-deserved donuts.
If you think your truck is tough enough to blow up and still put out nearly 900 hp, you need to head down to Buda, Texas, next year. For more information about this event or to find out about next year's, visit www.CentralTexasDiesel.com.
