How can an event that's so much work for the staff, competitors, and sponsors to put on still be so much fun? The hardest part for us is keeping up with an event that has exploded in size and scope since last year. While the first Diesel Power Challenge was comparatively a low-key gathering of friends, this year's DPC in Salt Lake City was a veritable who's who of the diesel performance industry.
We were overwhelmed by the lengths to which the competitors and sponsors went to show what their products and trucks were capable of. Our hats are off to all the people who helped build, test, prepare, and pay for the nine amazing machines you just read about. We'll remember your names and faces because it's people like you whom this industry was built on.
We also want to thank the readers of Diesel Power magazine. Yes, that means you, too! Without your participation, interest, and entry-form submissions, we'd never get to put on such an incredible event. If your diesel wasn't picked this year, please resubmit an application for next year. We'd love to have you.
Our thanks also go out to the staff of Rocky Mountain Raceways for its beautiful motorsports facility, the Hammer Sled Pull Team for preparing and running our sled pull, Zane Koch of Wide Open Performance for demonstrating his Power Stroke drag truck, and Richard Madsen of Maddog Motorsports for bringing his chassis dyno.
On behalf of the Diesel Power staff, all our sponsors, and myself, thanks again-and see you next year at Diesel Power Challenge '08.-David Kennedy
