Diesel Power Challenge 2011 Competitor Interview: Rocky Horn 1997 Ford F-350 Diesel Power: What changes are you making to the truck in order to prepare for the event? Rocky Horn: “Getting the transmission freshened up, tuning, and maybe a new set of tires.” DP: What was your reaction when you got the call to compete? RH: “I was shocked, since my truck is so old [laughs].” DP: What tires do you plan to use? RH: “That’s a question I keep asking myself. Either Mickey Thompson ATZ’s, or Dick Cepek Fun Country's, but I’m not sure yet.” DP: What is your strategy going to be for each event? What’s the game plan? RH: “Try to not be so scared and take my time. And do the best I can.” DP: What spare parts are you bringing? RH: “A starter, boots and clamps, a spare trans, and a turbo from the shop” DP: Who are your crewmembers? RH: “I think: Cody Gordon, Alan Black, and Darrel Hood.” DP: Any other thoughts? RH: “Not really, just a lot to do between now and then.” VEHICLE SPECS Year: 1997 Model: Ford F-350 Cummins Body style: Crew Cab, long bed, 4x4 MODIFICATIONS Turbocharger(s): Custom RSDP 62/480 Compounds Programmer, chip, or box: Smarty Super Sport Revo/ATS Atomizer Injectors: DDP Custom Nozzles Injection pump: RSDP custom dual CP3s Lift pump: AirDog Intercooler: Hypermax Taper Core Air intake: RSDP custom Nitrous oxide: None yet Water/methanol: None yet Exhaust system: 5-inch to 6-inch stack Estimated horsepower: 900 hp ADDITIONAL INFO *NSPA 2nd Place Points Champion two years in a row in the Super Street Diesel Class. *Ran a 13.2 at Bandimere with this truck when it was a still a Power Stroke.
