Diesel Power Challenge 2011 Competitor Interview: Newly Tolf
2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
Diesel Power: What changes are you making to the truck in order to prepare for the event?
Newly Tolf: “I’m undecided—looking at twins or a large single turbo. We are trying to factor in Denver's elevation...”
DP: What was your reaction when you got the call to compete?
NT: “Pretty uplifting. I still have a smile on my face.”
DP: What tires do you plan to use?
NT: “Currently, I’m running a set of Nitto 420s, but will be switching to a set of Nitto Dune Grapplers.”
DP: What is your strategy going to be for each event? What’s the game plan?
NT: “Not quite sure, but we'll have plenty of nitrous on hand to make up for any unforeseen challenges.”
DP: What spare parts are you bringing?
NT: “Half shafts, axles, drive shafts, transfer-case, etc…”
DP: Who are your crewmembers?
NT: “My dad, my mechanic, and a mystery man.”
DP: Any other thoughts?
NT: “Mainly excited about the experience, and I wanna have fun with other diesel hot-rodders.”
